{"id":337,"date":"2011-12-16T11:04:14","date_gmt":"2011-12-16T11:04:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fudebakudo.com\/blog\/?p=337"},"modified":"2011-12-16T11:04:14","modified_gmt":"2011-12-16T11:04:14","slug":"the-noble-art-of-greco-roman-wrestling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fudebakudo.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/the-noble-art-of-greco-roman-wrestling\/","title":{"rendered":"The noble art of Greco-Roman wrestling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marina Hyde has written an excellent piece in the Guardian about the &#8220;the giddy thrill of seeing two go mankini-a-mankini in ancient contest&#8221; and the shenanigans behind the composition of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/sport\/blog\/2011\/dec\/14\/britain-2012-wrestling-east-europeans\" class=\"fbd_link_external\">the team GB wrestlers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a little disappointing that the Guardian have used such an uninspiring image for that article (no disrespect to Mark McCormick, but I don&#8217;t much like the illustration there, sorry). For a few months not so long ago I worked in the Guardian HQ (although I wasn&#8217;t employed directly by them) but, despite this, Fudebakudo seems never to have infiltrated their illustration department. Odd, that. Actually, while I was there I did get to sneak over to peek at the drawing boards of both <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/profile\/stevebell\" class=\"fbd_link_external\">Steve Bell<\/a> (we share the irrelevant qualification of both having been in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cartooncounty.com\/\" class=\"fbd_link_external\">Cartoon County<\/a>, the difference being that I know about his work and he&#8217;s got no interest whatsoever in mine, of course) and the most excellent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/profile\/nicola-jennings\" class=\"fbd_link_external\">Nicola Jennings<\/a>, who is responsible for the Graun&#8217;s exquisite caricatures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marina Hyde has written an excellent piece in the Guardian about the &#8220;the giddy thrill of seeing two go mankini-a-mankini in ancient contest&#8221; and the shenanigans behind the composition of the team GB wrestlers.
